Avoda is the thesis written by Ishak Ibrahimzadeh for the degree of Master of Arts in “Jewsih Studies” at Gratz College, Philadelphia, 2014.
This book is the product of seven years’ work and was written originally in English. It has been translated into Turkish by Estreya Seval Vali, and into Hebrew by Batsheva Weinberg and it is published by Gözlem Gazetecilik in 3 languages. All proceeds from this book will be donated to IZEV - Istanbul Educational and Support Foundation for the Mentally Impaired.
From the Preface of Avoda: “… This book discusses the heart of the Torah and it is an essay on Torah psychology what is traditionally called mussar (the study of ethics or character development). It surveys the assumption made by a number of commentators that prayer rectifies the negative trait of honor seeking. This work is not a technical Kabbalistic discourse. However Torah psychology is certainly grounded in the psychological principles of the Kabbalah, which can be defined in this sense as the study of the relationship between the soul and body, and this work draws freely on this understanding…”
